Happy 50th Birthday Stanton!

Yes, the big guy turned 50 yesterday! Stanton's not one to celebrate birthdays, but I couldn't let this one go without some fanfare. I've been planning this surprise for a couple of weeks now and was glad to see it succeed!

We surprised him at our friends the Marchiondo's. Christa had invited him for a pizza dinner since her husband and I had been working late all week. Easy plan, he never even suspected anything was up (Stanton's not one to to pass up Pizza either). He even mentioned to her that it was his birthday.

Christa did a great job making up some funny signs to tease Stanton about his age. My favorites:

Don't worry about temptation, at your age it doesn't come your way.
At your age, if it doesn't hurt, it's because it doesn't work anymore.

We enjoyed a very rich Swiss Chocolate Cake that the Confiserie did a great job decorating for us. Birthday cakes are not big here, so this took some explanation on what we wanted!

Happy Birthday!
Kathleen, Payton, and Parker

PS - My original plan was to have Christa call Stanton and say she was locked out. Stanton has a key to their house so he would have to come over and let her in. Now I know my husband and I was positive there was no way he would take that key off the ring and just hand it off to Christa. Not because he's a gentleman, but because he HATES to be bothered by something he considers difficult, like taking a key off a key ring. He would much rather carry the baby up to their flat and let her in. Plus as he said when I talked to him after the party, "Payton loves going over there and what else do I have to do?" But Christa didn't believe me, so we went with the dinner invite instead.

  1. Happy Birthday, you old Fart! When you come back to town, I'll give you what I gave Lisa when she turned (ikes!) 40. I gave her some copies for living wills and medical power of attorneys. That way Kathleen will be protected when she tells them to pull the plug!
